Hello Wynne! Thank you very much for your kind words; I am grateful that you enjoyed this post. It is a shame that the word now translated as “church” meant assembly/gathering in the original language. Now, we read our modern issues into ancient texts. It is my desire that the church will open its eyes and see the damage it is causing in turning faith into a show.
Thank you again, please share this website!
Sincerely,
Luke.

Too many activities, titles, etc. and a focus on one leader in front which is the pastor. In biblical times, people went from house to house to praise God and fellowship. We need to get back to our First Love and make Him the focus in today’s church instead of continually trying to find a 101 ways to retain and entertain church members. I beat myself up at times because I feel guilty about my attitude towards todays church, I do not want to be entertained in church because I get enough of that during the week e.g. work, social media, television, politicians debating and arguing about who is better, etc. I don’t need to see the world in church. Church should be the one place that looks different and smells different from the world. All I want to see, hear and smell is the Presence of the Lord without all the praising and clapping of men and their achievements, award distributions, ongoing creation of new activities—the list goes on. Christ is the Head of the Church not man. Thank you for this article and for showing me that I am not alone. I love God’s church but my heart breaks when I see the world attributes in the church. I don’t need entertainment; I need God Almighty!!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Tommie! I couldn’t agree more. The original word translated as “church” in our modern Bibles, in actuality, meant “assembly” or “gathering” (Greek: Ekklesia), not an endless lecture. Thank you for sharing and for checking out my posts!
Sincerely, Luke.

Today we have one man who is called the Pastor and the word pastor is only mentioned one time in Ephesians and the greek rending of the word should be shepherd. The early church was governed by a plurality of Elders.
